18125896 - homemade marshmallow crispy rice treat in bar form

My husband's mother was revered for her Marshmallow Crispy Bars, and my attempts have always been found wanting in the eyes of my family.  What is remarkable is that Mary did this in Iowa, land of 90% summer humidity, where a box of cereal had to be eaten in the same week it was opened or go stale.   Two years ago, I learned that I had gluten intolerance, and this once a week chocolate chip cookie maker had to set her eyes elsewhere for sweet treats.  With this diagnosis, I found my inspiration to figure out the secrets Mary would never divulge. Actually, I think she'd be proud.

NO FAIL Crispy Rice Bars

immediately add marshmallows to hot browned butter but don't put back on the flame

while melting, gather vanilla, rice crisp cereal, a 4 cup measuring cup, 12" x 12" sheet waxed paper, butter, 9"x 13" pan

Butter or spray pan & waxed paper

1 tsp of vanilla--add & mix into the melted marshmallows

add the 6ish cups of rice cereal

stir well into the melted marshmallow mixture
